Hello and thank you for visiting my website. Just a little bit about me so we can get to know each other better. I was born in Terrace, British Columbia, from there my family and I moved around a bit until my dad had a great opportunity to work in the North. We moved to a tiny community called Faro, Yukon, where my father worked at the Cyprus Anvil Mine for many years. Growing up in the North we were very secluded, but at the same time very busy with the community and sport activities. I started skating at a very young age and then got involved with figure skating, something that was a passion of mine for many years to come. Due to the recession in the 80's we had to move, the mine was shutting down. This was an adjustment for us all. It wasn't easy leaving a community where everyone knew everyone and we were all like family. We thought we were never going to leave, but with change comes opportunity as well. We moved to a tiny community called Pouce Coupe, British Columbia, just outside of Dawson Creek, BC. This is where I would spend my teenage years. We became very involved with our new community. My father started up sports programs and volunteer programs so the community as a whole had more opportunity for the children. There was hockey, baseball and soccer. 1985 Mile 0 Figure Skating club Here I joined the Mile "0" Figure Skating Club and had the opportunity to go to figure skating competitions in Edmonton, Alberta and other communities. I received gold medals, silver and bronze in the competitions I competed in. Sports and recreation were a big part of our lives growing up and I believe helped us build confidence in ourselves as well as being part of a team. July 1 1987-88 Helping with the parade and blowing up balloons for the kids. In my teenage years I worked at MacDonald's where I believe I learned good work ethic and customer service. I graduated from South Peace Senior Secondary in 1988-89 and continued to work in different areas trying to find where I fit in. Through the 90's I have had three beautiful children and this was my most important job of all raising my children. They are my greatest achievement, the best job of all being a mom! My children have been my teacher's, I would not know half of what I know if it wasn't for them. They have definitely taught me how to think outside the box and learn to overcome challenges in our lives. I don't know what I would do without them. They have taught me that we can do anything we want there are no limitations, only our own self doubt. In 1994 I received my nursing assistance certification and we moved to Fort St John BC where I worked at a home care facility for a few years. Due to having a special needs child and the shift work I found even though I loved my career choice my children were more important and I decided to stay at home full time. In 1996 we moved to Edmonton Alberta and this is where we would stay for the next 12 years. Moving to a city was a big step for me. I had always been in smaller communities. I found myself needing more of a challenge now that my children were older and more self sufficient. It was time for me to pursue a career so I took my Real Estate Trading Course. I have always enjoyed working with people, whether it was customer service or the health care field. This was a new challenge for me, not just working with people, but also having the confidence to promote myself to do so. I love people and could never be isolated in a career. I love to help in some way and helping people make their dream come true is exciting for me. I am dedicated, motivated and hard working, something I think is important if you seek a career in Real Estate. Helping people find their first home, dream home, or investment property and seeing the expression on someone's face when they know, "this is the one," brings me great joy! This is how I found myself in Salmon Arm, British Columbia, back to a place where I feel at home. Back in the mountians where my children and I can feel a warm and friendly atmosphere in a great community! With the perks of warmer weather. I want to be of value to our community, and hope to continue by being who I am! Thank you for visiting and getting to know me a little bit better, Barbie LeRoux |
